Ubud Destination Guides

Bali Villa Collection – Ubud

Ubud is the place to go in Bali if you’re wanting to immerse yourself in Balinese history and traditional culture and to experience a more relaxed style of holiday. You’ll be able to enjoy a relaxed, chilled-out atmosphere, with a cooler highland climate.

Nature lovers will rejoice, with the opportunity to visit picturesque locations with incredible scenery. There is also a thriving arts scene, with art galleries and heritage museums to explore.

The nightlife is far quieter, and in all honesty, a tad limited, however you’ll still be able to enjoy the cultural performances and dancing at the royal palace each evening or head to one of the modern local bars to enjoy some live music.

Ubud has commonly been a highly sought-after destination for those seeking peace and quiet, to relax or practice yoga and meditation.

Perfect For…

  • History & culture lovers
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Groups
  • Those seeking peace and quiet.

What To See & Do

When you visit Ubud you’ll be able to enjoy beautiful scenery with lush green valleys, cascading rice terraces.

Visiting some of the historic temples is a must, particularly the Tirta Empul Temple, Ganung Kawi Temple and Ganung Kawi Sebatu Temple.

Once you’ve experienced the beautiful scenery and visited the historic temples, there is still plenty more to explore and enjoy.

For the shop-a-holics you’ll definitely want to check out the art market, right in the centre of Ubud. You’ll discover a vast array of traditional clothing, paintings, carvings and more – perfect for unique souvenirs. The main road and interconnecting side-streets also provide a great mix of international designer boutiques.

You’ll also want to make sure that Ubud Monkey Forest  and the Goa Gajah Elephant Cave (where you won’t find elephants!) is on your ‘to-see’ list.

For the thrill-seekers, you might like to try the Mason Jungle Buggies, or the Canyon Tubing. Or you might like to simply try your hand at an art or craft class – or possibly a traditional cooking class.

What To Eat

A great mix of beautiful, traditional Balianese cuisine, plus a range of more modern, international fare is available in Ubud.

Top picks include Locavore Restaurant, Bridges Bali and Mozaic Restaurant, but there are plenty of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, whenever you should desire.

How To Get Around

Ubud is approximately an hour’s drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. A taxi is probably the easiest way of getting from the airport to your accommodation in Ubud.

There are many local attractions within easy walking distance of most hotels in and around central Ubud for convenient sight-seeing, so make sure you bring your walking shoes!
